LUMS is consistently ranked among the UK’s top ten business schools. It has a world-class campus that offers a fantastic student experience, plus it really understands international students and their previous academic qualifications.
I appreciated the quality of study materials and really liked having the option to study at a high level in my second and third year. I wanted my BSc Business Studies degree to be more quantitative, therefore I appreciated the fact that at LUMS I could take very advanced modules in Economics and Quantitative Finance, especially because the professors who teach these modules are the best in the UK in their respective fields. When I went on to study MSc Finance at the London School of Economics, I felt that my degree had prepared me very well for my Master’s.
Life on campus was the best part of my university experience – I really can’t recommend it enough. The University Campus has a lot of bars and college pubs, and there’s everything you need within a 10-minute walk. The Sports Centre is fantastic and I joined several societies, which was great fun. The accommodation is top class and the campus is surrounded by the best of British countryside, which is something I currently miss a lot.
Lancaster University fully sponsored my China Summer School Programme at the Beijing Foreign Studies University. It was one of the highlights of my degree and I’m really grateful for the opportunity. I travelled to Beijing with 15 other Lancaster students to study Mandarin and Chinese culture for one month, which was a great cultural and travel experience – I fell in love with Beijing after that trip.
Overall, I highly recommend LUMS. It offers the best student experience, both in terms of social life and academic knowledge. Most importantly, I also feel that everything on campus is created to support your studies.
I used LUMS Careers a lot, mostly for CV and interview workshops. It really prepared me for when I began looking for an internship after my first and second year.
After graduating from LUMS in 2009, I went on to study MSc Finance at the London School of Economics and then joined the Graduate Programme at the London Stock Exchange, working in the IPO/Equity Capital Markets team. I worked there for four years and in 2015, together with one of my classmates from LUMS, I launched #tagvenue, a London tech start-up that’s changing the way people discover and book spaces for their events. My degree, as well as the experience I gained while studying, has helped me massively throughout this journey.
