Engagement Manager, McKinsey & Company

The degree which René studied, BBA European Management (German), is no longer available. It has been superseded by BBA International Business Management (German).

LUMS simply is a fantastic place to study. You are taught by professors who are experts in their fields and your colleagues come from all over the world. The campus as well as the city offers a great student life with societies, sports clubs and places to party.

LUMS has a great reputation in the UK and beyond, and this reputation helped me to find internships and an excellent graduate job.

What I liked most about doing the BBA International Business Management was the friendships that developed over time, and I appreciated the high level of integration between Lancaster and ESB Reutlingen, Germany, which saved me from a lot of stress.

The first two years of my degree were spent at Lancaster. In addition to my studies I was also involved in other activities at the University. In my first year, I was a project leader of SIFE Lancaster (a branch of the global non-profit organisation which helps university students develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills by carrying out national and international community projects). In my second year, I was the president of LUSIPBS (Lancaster University Society of the International Partnership of Business Schools) and course representative for the BBA International Business Management.

For my third and fourth years I studied at ESB Business School in Reutlingen. In my third year, I led the public relations resort at ESB, which organises and supports open days and ESB participation at national and international career fairs etc. I was also Teach First Campus Captain at ESB and Stuttgart/Tübingen. In my fourth year, I was the vice-president of the ESB student consulting service. In addition, I was part of the National Model United Nations New York delegation, participating in one of the largest global UN simulations.

During the course of my degree I completed a number of valuable internships, at McKinsey & Company, Inc., Daimler AG and at Nestlé Deutschland AG. After graduating with my double degree I started working again at McKinsey & Company, Inc., as a Consultant.
