Consultant, Deloitte UK

Before being accepted on to the Lancaster MBA I had studied at Bangalore University and had then worked for several years for Ernst & Young in their Business Advisory Practice, performing internal audit, revenue assurance and developing standard operating procedures to help companies work more efficiently.

I really enjoyed the Lancaster MBA experience and I believe the programme was very well conducted due to the skills, professionalism and experience of the MBA support staff as well as the MBA teaching faculty.

The Lancaster MBA, with its practical focus, gave me the opportunity to apply concepts learned in the lecture theatre to three consulting projects, including a summer internship which I completed at DHL in Greece which was the highlight of my MBA. The cultural mix on the MBA helped me understand business cultures across the world and prepared me not just for my internship in Greece but also to be able to work across the globe.

During my time at Lancaster University Management School, I tried to ensure a holistic development. I was focused on giving my best in my academic performance and in the teamwork involved in course work. Not only has the Lancaster MBA provided me with technical knowledge of business issues but its practical approach has helped me immensely. The diversity in the MBA class also gave me experience in working in culturally diverse teams.

I joined Deloitte Consulting in early 2008 as a Consultant in their Strategy and Operations Practice in the UK. Deloitte's Strategy and Operations practice helps clients make major strategic decisions and implement business improvements in areas such as customer relationships, supply chain, mergers and acquisitions, financial management, programme leadership and more.

At Deloitte my consulting work is focused on the telecoms industry, with work for clients such as BT, Vodafone, Cable & Wireless, etc.

The knowledge I gained on the MBA will be put to good use in my job with Deloitte. In fact, the three electives which I chose in the elective semester were specifically chosen with this job in mind. They included Revenue Management, Strategy in Practice and International Business.
