Lancaster hosts UUKI Mobility Conference in line up of Global Week events


Universities UK International Mobility Conference featured in the lineup of Global Week events on Tuesday 20th February.

The conference, which highlighted the importance of student mobility, hosted delegates from universities from across the UK and featured speakers such as Alison Barrett MBE, Director of British Council India, Jamie Arrowsmith, Director Universities UK International, as well as a keynote delivered by Lancaster's own Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andy Schofield and panel which included Pro-Vice Chancellor Global, Professor Simon Guy.

Discussions on the day centred around best practices, challenges and innovations in mobility and set out to encourage the sharing of ideas and collaboration.

The inaugural Global Week was held at Lancaster from 19th – 23rd and featured events for staff and students across the week including workshops, language cafes and a cultural festival.

Campus deans from LU Leipzig, LU Ghana, Sunway University and BJTU came together in person for the first time during the week to attend events and join in conversations around the development partnership working and innovations such as the Global Advancement Fund and the Undergraduate Research Conference.

Professor Simon Guy, Pro Vice-Chancellor Global said: “Hosting the UUKI Mobility conference at Lancaster provided a great opportunity to share knowledge and best practice with colleagues from across the UK and to showcase some of Lancaster’s innovative student mobility initiatives such as the global classroom and undergraduate research conference”.

"We were also able to showcase many of an international projects during our first ever Global Week, when we particularly enjoyed hosting our overseas Academic Deans from Malaysia, China, Ghana and Germany. We look forward to introducing our academic leader for Indonesia once appointed and to continuing to build our global offer and partnerships through teaching, research and mobility opportunities.”
