Do the Benefits of Engaging Religion for Development Outweigh the Dangers?

  • RUSI, 61 Whitehall, London, SW1A 2ET
  • Thursday 1 May 2014, 5.30pm-7.00pm

Are religions a drag on development, or do they enable change from below and endow it with legitimacy? Are secular agencies able to be more even-handed and universal in provision, or are they out of step with a post-colonial, ‘post-secular’ age.

These debates are organised by Charles Clarke (former Education Secretary and Home Secretary in the last Labour Government) and Linda Woodhead (Professor of Sociology and Religion at Lancaster University) and they are open to all. Click for further details about this event
