Understanding your fee status and how to request a change

A student’s fee status is determined at the application stage by our Admissions Team. Any disputes should be resolved prior to registration with the University as, once a student has registered, the fee status will not be changed. The fee status under which a student registers will remain with them throughout that registration.

Under exceptional circumstances, an appeal can be made to change fee status. Typically this would only be considered if there had been an error made at the application stage. Appeals must be submitted, with supporting evidence, to Richard English, Deputy Head of Student Registry, and can take up to six weeks.

Students are advised that Lancaster University has different qualifying criteria than funding bodies such as Student Finance England, and it is possible for you to be eligible for funding from such a body while being classed as Overseas for fees purposes by the University.
