What Will You Study
The course is designed to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills in line with the Medical Leadership Competency Framework. The course is interactive, participatory and work based requiring minimal attendance alongside online learning activities. It is structured to encourage personal leadership development and so can benefit doctors at every stage of their career.
It will be of benefit if you are interested in improving patient experience and service delivery, demonstrating caring, compassionate and authentic leadership and developing your own leadership capacity in order to achieve and evidence medical and organisational impact.
Delivery is flexible to allow you to work while you study. You can take a step-on, step-off route as you enrol on the individual modules and we can accommodate students to complete even if you relocate away from the area.
A typical Postgraduate Diploma pathway might include:
Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Leadership or equivalent (60 credits)
Programme Negotiation (10 credits)
Optional Modules x2 (20 credits)
Practitioner Enquiry: Scoping Projects (10 credits)
Work based learning project (20 credits)
Students may also make a claim (APL) to gain credits to exempt them from some modules by undertaking the module Recognition and Accreditation of Prior Learning (RAPL).
Progression from a Postgraduate Certificate to Postgraduate Diploma and MSc allows you to further develop your knowledge and skills and undertake real work based medical leadership projects.
