What Will You Study

Offered jointly by Lancaster University’s Management School and the Department of Languages and Cultures, this four-year degree course offers proficient linguists two options for combining Languages and Management Studies.

You can study one major language (French, German or Spanish - usually at advanced level) and its culture alongside your choice from a selection of in-depth courses on Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Management and Organisations or Marketing. There is the option to take another language (from Chinese, French, German, Spanish and Italian – all of which you can start from beginner level) in your first year together with one Management subject.

On both variants, you will spend your third year abroad, either studying Management at a partner university or on a work placement.  In either case, you will further develop your major language whilst overseas.

In your second and final years you will study your major language alongside culture modules, combined with your choices from a selection of management school subjects.  In these years, your work will be split equally between Management and Languages and Cultures.
