Before You Arrive
Before you arrive you should have sorted out Fee Payment, applied for Accommodation and College and completed your Pre-registration. You should have also downloaded the iLancaster app and planned your journey. More details on these are below.
If you are an international student you will also need to look through the Pre-Arrival Guide.
If you have a smart phone, you can install iLancaster, the University's free mobile app. The app features the Freshers' Guide, amongst other things, so that you can get information on the move to help you through you first couple of weeks at Lancaster. If you install the app after pre-registering, you can log in as a 'Student/Staff User' using your university account details, and access the full set of iLancaster features.
The iLancaster app also includes all of our welcome checklists, allowing you to keep track of the things you need to do before arriving, on arrival, and during Welcome Week. The iLancaster web page has more information. The app can be found by searching on your smartphone's app store, or by clicking the iLancaster logo to the side.
Plan your journey
You need to plan how and when you will be travelling to the University. We have provided information on how to get to the University campus on our Maps and Travel page.
Note: A main road in Lancaster city centre is completely closed for around 10 weeks, due to work being undertaken by United Utilities, causing significant delays to journey times. Due to these delays we recommend all persons travelling to Lancaster University via the M6, exit at Junction 33.
If you are planning to arrive by train we will have a team of student helpers to meet you at Lancaster station and a free bus to take you onto campus. Look out for the Lancaster University banners and red t-shirts at the station. To make use of this service please plan your arrival into Lancaster train station between the following times:
- Saturday 27th September 9am – 6pm
- Sunday 28th September 11am – 6pm
If you arrive at the station outside of these times then you will need to make your own way to the campus.
If you are an international student you can also make use of our Airport Collection Service, depending on the date of your arrival.
If you want to start your university life early you can find information about your department, accessing your reading lists and buying your Students' Union Purple Card on the What's Next? pages.
