Laura Miller

Lecturer in Architecture

My Role

I am a qualified architect and lead the MArch and Professional Practice Programme for the School of Architecture, providing structured learning content across all year groups, including students who are working in practice between undergraduate and postgraduate study. I create links with professional practices in the North West and facilitate visits to architectural offices for students as well as organising mentoring experiences and project review opportunities between students and practicing architects. I plan and organise the annual field trip for students across the school and have developed a set principles for the organistaion of the trip to increase participation, provide equal opportunity and to demonstrate responsible travel and tourist behaviours through low carbon expenditure and critical review of places visited. I run workshops for primaryschool children and also for primary school teachers to give confidence in teaching architecture as a subject to primary school-aged children as required by the national curriculm.
