Film screening of A Basket Full of Eggs (2025), followed by a presentation and Q&A with Professor Hazel Marsh.

Film Screening and Discussion: A Basket Full of Eggs

Join us for a screening of A Basket Full of Eggs, an AHRC-funded film project by Romani filmmaker Lisa Smith exploring Romani heritage, culture and the often-overlooked contribution of Romani communities to England's folk music traditions.

Hosted by Lancaster University's Voices with Impact, the screening will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A featuring:

• Nicoleta Calin (Leeds City Council), a Roma researcher and advocate whose work focuses on representation in the media, inclusion and community voice.
• Olivia Hammond (Traveller Movement), a Romani Gypsy activist, educator and Community Advocacy Caseworker.
• Professor Hazel Marsh (University of East Anglia), whose work focuses on Romani and Traveller voices, cultural heritage and representation.
• Dr Joanna Kostka (Lancaster University), whose work focuses on social justice and collaboration with Roma communities.

Together, they will explore themes of heritage, representation, community knowledge and lived experience, bringing together research, advocacy and community perspectives.

We hope this event will offer an opportunity to learn from a community-led project, hear different perspectives and connect with others interested in inclusion, lived experience and research.
