Mentors' Notes and Retrospectives

In several cases mentors provided us with written or audio diaries which commented on their interactions with the FLA (Foreign Language Assistant) and on the development of their relationship, like the FLA's own diaries.  They also provided us with retrospectives which looked back on their relationship with hindsight. Both diaries and retrospectives can be downloaded below, divided into those from France and those from England.  Each file is labelled with the name of the FLA, and with details of the type of data: mentor logbook, mentor audiolog, mentor retrospective or mentor notes (where the mentor, due to time constraints, sent us brief notes instead of an actual logbook).  For the data from France, where the FLA frequently worked with more than one mentor, we have also included the name of the mentor concerned in the filename.

Due to various logistical difficulties the French mentors (or responsables ) were in many cases unable to provide us with notes or written retrospectives.  To avoid missing out on their perspective we therefore recorded telephone interviews with them, which were carried out by a French native speaker based in Lancaster and then transcribed.
