Charlotte Baker interviewed for Disability podcast

Professor Charlotte Baker has been interviewed by disability advocate and inclusive education specialist IJ Popoola for a podcast, which focuses on the challenges facing people with disabilities in Africa and the African diaspora. The podcast is being launched to coincide with International Day of People with Disabilities on 3 December 2021.
Charlotte spoke about her work on the sociocultural challenges facing people with albinism in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as her current Disability and Inclusion Africa project, explaining how this project has enabled her to better understand the points of commonality and difference between experiences of living with albinism and those of other disabled people.
She also discussed her work on a Resolution that was recently passed at the UN Human Rights Council, which led on to a discussion about the role that academics can play in facilitating discussion and collaboration between stakeholders, and gathering consensus around important issues.
The podcast is the tenth in a series that includes podcasts on autism, mental health, the importance of empathy in supporting people with special needs, and inclusive education.
