Chinese Studies at Lancaster is delighted to announce it has launched a Chinese Friendship Project in which first-year students interact with speakers of different Chinese varieties from the local Chinese communities, participate in cultural activities, and apply their language skills innovatively. The Friendship Project encourages linguistic and cultural exchange between Chinese learners, Chinese international students and local Chinese community members to respect and deepen our understandings of different cultures and promote diversity on campus. Students learn the Chinese language in its social and cultural context by participating in a wide range of activities, such as a day trip to Manchester Chinatown, Chinese Food Corner, Chinese Film Night, and Chinese festival celebrations.

Two participants in the Chinese Friendship Project have produced Chinese Friendship video to highlight how they are learning from one another. And check out the recent Hotpot Video which proved very popular with many students.

Chinese is offered in combination with many other subjects at Lancaster, including Politics, Linguistics, Psychology, Mathematics, English Literature, Film, History, Philosophy, English Language, Theatre, French, German, and Spanish. Please see the Lancaster University Undergraduate Courses webpage for more information or email delc@lancaster.ac.uk.
