Introduction
Philosophy is careful, reasoned engagement with fundamental questions about human existence, truth and knowledge, right and wrong, politics and justice, art, faith, and reason. But you’ll do more than explore ideas with us: you’ll apply philosophy in real-world scenarios, using your thinking skills to face the global, social, and political challenges taken up by the School of Global Affairs. Develop your skills in critical thinking and clarity of communication, and you can be confident of success in a wide range of graduate roles, and of being equipped to make a difference in a rapidly changing world.

Research spotlight
The Philosophy of Psychiatry Reading Group meets fortnightly during term. Since 2008, we have also organized annual philosophy of psychiatry work-in-progress workshops, held at Lancaster, which bring together researchers working in the philosophy of psychiatry from across the UK.
The philosophy of psychiatry research cluster currently consists of Professor Rachel Cooper, our Honorary Research Fellows (Dr Sam Fellowes, Dr Hane Maung and Dr Floris Tomasini), and a number of PhD students working in the area.
