Professor Rebecca Braun
Teaching FellowProfile
I am primarily based at the National University of Ireland Galway (NUI Galway), where I am Executive Dean of the College of Arts, Social Sciences & Celtic Studies. I can be contacted at: rebecca.braun@nuigalway.ie
I am pleased to retain my connection with Lancaster University, where I worked for ten years, 2010-2020. In this capacity, I am seeing my Lancaster PhD students through to completion.
Research Overview
I research different forms of creative practice around the world and apply them both to practical policy making and to contemporary cultural critique. This is a licence to care deeply about the multiple contexts we inhabit, from those of our imagination through to the very real circumstances in which we live, think, and act.
Research Interests
Since 2014, I have co-designed and delivered research projects with a range of international government agencies and creative partners, while my most recent edited volumes (two new titles in 2020) have pioneered a multi-vocal, practical angle on concepts of world literature, culture and authorship: Transnational German Studies (Liverpool University Press; co-edited with Benedict Schofield) and World Authorship (Oxford University Press; co-edited with Tobias Boes & Emiiy Spiers). My most recent monograph, Authors and the World: Literary Authorship in Modern Germany, is due out with Bloomsbury Academic in 2022.
At NUI Galway, I am leading a team of researchers in the area of Creative Futures, and am continuing to develop my own work specifically on 'Liteary Futures' - exploring how literature can help a variety of individuals engage in futures work across a wide range of sectors.
I am pleased to be contacted on any of the above: rebecca.braun@nuigalway.ie
