The Films of Rakhshan Banietemad is a newly released book edited by Film Lecturer, Maryam Ghorbankarimi, focusing on Rakhshan Banietemad, one of the first female directors in Iran.

This book, published by Edinburgh University Press is the first English language study of the films and career of Rakhshan Banietemad.

The book includes an interview with the Director herself and covers Banietemad’s career highlighting her most well-known films such as The Blue Veiled (1995), and The May Lady (1998) Tales (2014) as well as her documentary works.

Maryam’s research focuses on Iranian and transnational cinema and cultures.
