Join us for the final webinar in our Research Showcase series!
In previous sessions, we've explored how different disciplines contribute to The Future of Human Reproduction. Now, we turn the tables: what’s it like to step into an unfamiliar discipline—specifically, Speculative Design?
Dr Nicola Williams (bioethics, Lancaster University) and Dr Laura O'Donovan (healthcare law, University of Sheffield) are both part of our interdisciplinary team. With expertise in ethics, law, and policy, neither came from a design background. So what happened when they were asked to engage with Speculative Design Fiction—a method that uses fictional scenarios and artefacts to make abstract futures tangible?
In this session, Nicola and Laura reflect on the challenges and surprises of working in a completely new way—and what they took from the experience.
New to Speculative Design? Watch our previous webinar with Prof Emmanuel Tsekleves for an introduction.
Register now to hear how crossing disciplinary boundaries has reshaped their approach to research.
