Lecturer in Social Justice and Education in School Contexts

Research Overview

My research focuses on social justice in school contexts, particularly in relation to gender, sexuality, and other marginalised identities. Drawing on sociological and cultural approaches, I examine how schooling both reproduces and challenges inequalities.

My current work develops Confucian Queer Theory by bringing Confucianism into dialogue with Queer Theory through the case of Chinese schooling. This framework offers new insights into LGBTQ+ identities, subjectivities, agency, and resistance in educational contexts, while contributing to global debates on gender, sexuality, and social justice in education.
