About

Working Group

The EURO Working Group on Stochastic Modelling was formed to serve as the platform for researchers in Europe who have an interest in stochastic modelling. It is concerned with the development and use of probabilistic models and probability theory for the design, evaluation, improvement, and optimisation of systems that involve random phenomena, for example, production lines, supply chains, service centres, social/communications/energy/transport networks, financial markets, etc.

Members

The members of the EURO Working Group on Stochastic Modelling include researchers with a main or side interest in stochastic modelling, with backgrounds in applied probability, operational research, management science, business analytics, engineering, statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, and other sciences. Currently, it has around 350 members and anyone interested in presenting their research, participating in the discussions, or simply learning and/or consulting about the subject of stochastic modelling may join the working group and its meetings. Membership is free, so join here.

Meetings

Biennial meetings of the working group - called StochMod - have been held in various European locations in years alternating with INFORMS Applied Probability Society meetings since 2006. Read more about past meetings.
