Christmas in Lancaster

Christmas is definitely one of my favourite times of the year. The many Christmas lights, decorations, gifts, and joy that come with the season. Is it just me? I think Christmas really does come with its own vibe. It’s more like a smell or something, and sure enough, in Lancaster, it comes with the cold. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, the department and even the university put up nice decorations at the management school, Alexandra Square, and some houses in the graduate college. There was also a Christmas market at Alexandra Square. It sure was starting to feel a lot like Christmas.

Howbeit, in this blog post, I will be sharing hints on how to achieve your best as an international student in the Accounting and Finance Department because you will most likely be preparing for your first examinations on campus simultaneously. Also, since this is most likely your first Christmas away from home, there’s a likelihood that you'll feel lonely thinking about your family. Therefore, it’s important you’re mentally prepared for what to expect during your first Christmas.

As activities are winding up for the year, your courses are also rounding up which means there’ll be lots of coursework submissions and tests. To prevent a last-minute rush, ensure you have been managing your time properly since the beginning of the semester. Read your notes weekly and start working on submissions early enough so that you will only be revising during this period, allowing you to at least enjoy the season.

During the holidays, plan your time wisely. While you are trying to prepare for your exams, also make time to visit friends and family because you’ll become refreshed when you relax. Bear in mind that you may not have your immediate family around to spend the season with, but make the little moments count. Cook a nice meal for yourself, treat yourself to a good skincare and hair care routine, or do anything that generally makes you happy.

Remember that by the next Christmas, you will be a graduate, and it will all be worth it!

Till next time!
