Sam came to Lancaster for his first degree, graduating in History and Politics. Here he explains what motivated him to stay on for a Masters at LUMS.
I chose the MSc in Management to broaden my horizons. For me, it acts as a career accelerator, providing the ideal skill set that employers seek in graduates. This, combined with the international reputation of LUMS, made my choice to continue into further study at Lancaster a no-brainer.
The wide scope of topics that the programme covers, then the opportunities to specialise in different areas of management, provide the best of both worlds. Being introduced to topics from Accountancy and Finance to Human Resource Management gives you important insights into multiple aspects of organisations. To then go on to have the option to dedicate your degree in a subject such as strategic management is an extremely attractive aspect of the programme.
Lancaster’s campus life was the principal reason for my choice to study here and it certainly didn’t disappoint. From joining the rowing club to participating in student politics, being a student here has given me invaluable opportunities to develop as a person.
I hope to use the combination of my degrees and specifically the Strategic Management pathway to work in international relations at a managerial level. After my Masters, I aim to further develop my language skills in French and work on the continent. The wide scope of this MSc, with options to specialise in specific areas, has provided me with the tools to apply myself in organisations such as the OECD, the UN, UNESCO or even the EU.
