Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

I decided to study at LUMS for three main reasons. First, I wanted to study abroad, mainly in an English-speaking country to gain proficiency in the language and pave the way for an international career. Second, I sought for a masters’ programme with a Digitalisation and Innovation focus, ideal for building the bridge between IT and business. In comparison with other Universities, I felt that E-Business and Innovation offered exactly that to me. In retrospective, it was the right decision as it helped me gaining Innovation, IT and Digitalisation skills in addition to my business background. Lastly, I wanted to experience the never seen traditional campus life. Lancaster’s campus facilities (i.e. green areas, BBQ spots, huge sport facilities, housing, bars, grocery stores) offer a lot to balance tough study sessions and leisure time.

What was the best thing about your course?

Combining theoretical lectures with practical sessions made EBIN particularly interesting and challenging at the same time. Clearly the two-day workshop with IBM as part of our Managing IT Architecture module, the flexibility of choosing your master thesis topic and approach, as well as the two-day hackathon were my EBIN course highlights.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words:

My time at LUMS was exciting, challenging and fulfilling.

What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?

The best memories were undoubtedly made with the people I have met during the programme. Engaging with peers from different countries and continents allowed me to grow personally as well as in many social and professional aspects. Over the year, I have made friends from all over the world. Another highlight was playing for the Lancaster University Football Club in the famous Roses Tournament against York.

What impact did scholarships/funding have on your degree experience?

I have to admit that receiving an Academic Excellence Scholarship as an acknowledgement for my exceptional results in education delivered so far made the decision over other Universities in different countries much easier.

What impact has your Lancaster experience had on your career?

Studying at Lancaster has truly had an impact on my career. Graduating from a highly recognized University in the UK is definitely an advantage, but it was the course content of EBIN and the skills I acquired, which helped me starting my career in the digital consulting industry. Digitalisation and Innovation skills are highly appreciated in the work environment at the moment and in my opinion showing a basic understanding of the essentials of IT and digitalisation is a requirement for any graduate aiming for a career in business.
