Professor Theo Vurdubakis

I am Professor of Organisation and Technology in the Department of Organisation, Work & Technology and Director of the Centre For Technological Futures (CTF) at the Lancaster University Management School.

The School, CTF, and Lancaster University as a whole are keen to promote research designed to address the complexities of contemporary social and business challenges, challenges that defy disciplinary and geographical boundaries and involve diverse stakeholders. My own research has been concerned with understanding the role that technological practices and artefacts play in contemporary processes of social organisation and disorganisation. My recent (and ongoing) theoretical and empirical work has therefore focused among other things, on the handling of complexity; the role of ICT infrastructures in contemporary organising (including technologically mediated warfare); the problems posed by technological waste; the management of ‘sustainability’ and on current attempts to control Amazonian deforestation.

PhD Supervision Interests
