Trainee Client Executive, Millward Brown
Prior to undertaking the Management MSc programme, I studied English Literature at Lancaster University. I chose the MSc programme primarily due to the fact that I wanted to complement my undergraduate degree with more of a business focus and also because LUMS had such a strong reputation, which I knew would be invaluable with regards to my employability.
One of the best things about the course itself was that it provided me with a wide scope of different business areas and allowed me to focus in on my real subject of interest – marketing. As well as this, the course gave me the opportunity to meet lots of people, with lots of different experiences from all over the world, many of whom I plan to stay in contact with.
Outside of studying, there were plenty of chances to socialise with friends, both in and out of grad bar! I had previously been involved in numerous clubs and societies throughout my undergraduate degree (for example, cheerleading, the running club and the student newspaper) so I already had a base – but I also joined the Graduate Netball Team in my postgraduate year as it was a great way to meet more people and keep active.
At present, I am a Trainee Client Executive at Millward Brown, which is a global market research and branding consultancy company. On a daily basis I work with some well-known market-leading brands, helping them to understand their brand health, devise strategies and test their communication platforms. The MSc Management programme has undoubtedly given me a helping hand in getting me here in that it gave me the knowledge base and also actually helped me to realise what I wanted to do in terms of a career.
I would strongly recommend the MSc Management to anyone who is considering it because, although it is no easy ride, you will get a lot out of it if you work hard and take advantage of the ample opportunities it can give you.
