I chose to study at LUMS for several reasons. Its top ten position in the national and international league tables, together with the quality and breadth of research that academic staff are engaged in, put it to the top of my list. I liked the idea of studying at a campus university with a high standard of facilities.
What I enjoyed most about the BSc Finance and Management Studies programme was the independent approach to learning – I could tailor my degree to the modules I found the most fascinating. I also had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Australia. I spent twelve months at La Trobe University in Melbourne. It was a truly life-changing twelve months; I matured academically and emotionally. Being able to travel the world as part of your degree was priceless.
I was involved in lots of activities outside of my studies. I was a member of the Economics Society, a Corporate Relations Executive for SIFE (a global non-profit organisation with teams at 1500 universities worldwide), social secretary of my college and I worked as an ambassador for the University.
I received exceptional service from the LUMS careers team, ranging from advice on what a specific role would entail to having my CV critiqued. They are very dedicated and really want you to succeed.
If I had to summarise my experience at Lancaster, it would be ‘world-class’. I have never visited another institution either in the UK or abroad that is so focused and committed to enhancing the student experience. What I have learnt and experienced through studying here is that whatever it is you want to achieve, Lancaster will equip you with the skills to do it!
During my final year I managed to secure a place on the Technology Development Manager Graduate Program at GlaxoSmithKline in London.
