A key reason why I chose the BSc Accounting, Auditing & Finance programme was the unique opportunity to combine a university degree with a work placement and a fast-track CA qualification. The sound reputation of the partner organisations – Lancaster University Management School, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) and EY – also assured me that I would be given adequate support and opportunity to achieve my potential and beyond both at workplace and university.
Implementing what I learnt in the classroom at work was thoroughly insightful and useful. Similarly being a part of a global organisation like EY gave me the opportunity to work with the brightest and the best talents in the business. Working in Financial Services Banking and Capital Markets division gave me exposure to clients from investment banks to broker dealers. It also provided me with an understanding of a large number of regulatory and accounting changes happening within the global banking industry.
During the course of the internship I was also a part of the EY Recruitment and Marketing Campaign which was an enjoyable experience as well! At university I was involved with SIFE (Student in Free Enterprise) and was a Fresher’s Rep in my second year which was fun! I also worked as a LUMS Ambassador which was a perfect platform for me to share my experiences of Lancaster University and the degree to prospective students.
When I started the degree I had very little idea of the experiences, challenges and the joy I would find in building relationships, working in audit and learning and growing with people I would meet along the way. The degree has been rewarding and as I start my role at EY I hope to further accelerate in my career and achieve my goals.
