Country of origin: China
Prior to studying at LUMS, I studied Culture and Communication in Beijing, China. I chose the Management MSc programme due to my interest in business studies. Also, I was determined to start my career as a consultant.
The MSc Management at Lancaster is the definitely best choice for students who want to complement their previous knowledge with the principles and techniques from the main management areas. It involves a wide range of subjects which require not only theoretical understanding but also realistic practice. The reputation of LUMS also gives me confidence as it is ranked as a top business school in the UK.
Thankfully, the MSc Management programme also provided me with a distinct advantage when going through the recruitment process. I took a gap year after finishing the MSc but had secured a job with Ernst & Young, one of the largest professional services firms in the world. I started working as a consultant at their London Office in September 2014.
What I appreciated most about LUMS were the study abroad opportunities. I applied for the Summer School in Vienna as well as the double degree programme with Catolica-Lisbon, and fortunately I got both. These international experiences really broadened my horizons and enhanced my CV. During the Summer School at Vienna, I had the chance to communicate with a very diverse group of people; and this experience stimulated my thoughts for my final research project.
The fantastic year at Lancaster was not only about study, but also social life. The beautiful scenery and wonderful activities on campus were important parts of my life outside the lecture theatre. On occasions, we had parties, played sports or organised big meals to celebrate our free time after exams or presentations. These memories will be so precious to me throughout my whole life.
The MSc Management at LUMS is undoubtedly a wise choice. It helped me to have a better view of the world – and I do believe that you too will experience similar wonders if you choose to come to Lancaster University.
