CEEDS Seminar: Modelling data across scales – challenges and novel approaches 28th April 14:00-15:30
This seminar will be led by Pete Henrys (UKCEH) and will focus on some of the challenges associated with handling and analysing data across different scales (both temporal and spatial). As well as discussing some of the challenges, novel approaches will be presented that seek to maximise the use of information available at resolutions that enable consistent and appropriate inference. Examples presented cover a wide range of environmental applications including soils, ice sheets, biodiversity and oceans.
Speakers:
- Francesca Mancini (UKCEH): Model-based data integration: a case study combining structured and unstructured bumblebee data from citizen science schemes
- Dan Clarkson (Lancaster University):Ice sheet melt in Greenland: using spatial extreme value methods to understand different scales of melt events
- Amy Thomas (UKCEH): Modelling and understanding change in soils and land use: importance of spatial and temporal scales of data
- Adam Sykulski (Lancaster University): Connecting the ocean: From a single wave to a journey around the globe
The seminar is open to all staff from UKCEH and Lancaster University. To join please click on the Zoom link:
