DSNE seminar with Claudio Fronterre, Lancaster University

As the UK enters the next stage of the COVID-19 pandemic and considers reinforcement of current behavioural and social interventions, surveillance tools able to track and forecast the burden of Covid-19 and its spatial distribution become essential for proactive disease management. In this talk I will showcase a spatial time series modelling approach for tracking COVID-19cases in England at the Lower Tier Local Authorities level. The aim of this model is to investigate the spatio-temporal distribution of COVID-19 cases in England, provide spatial quantification of risk and detect spatio-temporal anomalies in case incidence, accounting for within and between region spread. This model is now part of a web-application where the output of automated analyses is used to highlight emerging resurgence of COVID-19 cases in a statistically principled fashion.
