Conferences and Hospitality Team Take Part in #OneMcPeake Allergen Challenge

The challenge, initially set up by our external provider, Jacqui McPeake from JACS Allergen Management, raises awareness of how difficult it is to live with a food allergy. It enables participants to understand the daily issues someone with allergies may face, highlighting problems including going shopping, checking labels and going out to eat at a restaurant or bar.

To take part in the challenge, participants must remove one of the key fourteen allergens for a two-week period. Once this has been decided, participants are encouraged to visit local supermarkets and shops to purchase appropriate foods for their allergy. All participants must also dine out at least once per week during the challenge to see what their experience is.

The money raised from the campaign will go to The Anaphylaxis Campaign. All feedback received from the challenge will also help Allergen Accreditation produce a report highlighting the learning and outcomes from participants, in turn supporting those who suffer from food allergies.

If someone close to you suffers with a food allergy, why not take part in the challenge to gain a better understanding of the issues they face.
