A Lancaster University Engineering student has been awarded a prestigious scholarship by the Institution of Engineering Technology (IET).

Isabel Parsons, a first year student studying MEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering, has received an IET Diamond Jubilee Scholarship. The award celebrates excellence in the sector, and was awarded to Isabel after she achieved 3 A*s and an A at A Level and joined the IET accredited degree programme at Lancaster University. Winners receive at least £1,000 per year of their degree, as well as free membership of the IET, the largest multidisciplinary professional engineering institution, for the duration of their course.

Isabel said “the financial support provided by the scholarship will help me focus on my studies. The networking opportunities and the IET membership will help motivate me as they will give me an insight into how my degree will be useful in the future.” She also intends to take part in IET and STEM activities within the local area during her degree.

The scholarships will be presented to the winners at an exclusive ceremony held in London on Wednesday 15th of February 2017.
