Title: Navigating through the “inferno” of NHS data and analytics maturity towards a future “paradise” of a secure data environment to drive real-world-evidence generation for 7.4 million citizens.
Abstract:
The North West region covers a population of approximately 7.4million across three large forming Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) – Lancashire and South Cumbria; Cheshire and Merseyside; and Greater Manchester. Each ICS currently has a series of disparate offerings to make data available for research and analysis. These offerings are at differing levels of maturity across the region but we know better use of data can directly support patient care, drive service improvement and enable research and innovation to improve health outcomes. There are data accessibility and quality challenges across the region. Analysts’ abilities are also often potentially wasted on the trivial reporting of day-to-day pressures. The North West Secure Data Environment (SDE) programme intends to:
• develop a unified offering across the NW,
• improve long term patient outcomes and reduce health inequalities,
• maximise income generated by regional Life Sciences sector, and
• upskill local talent in digital capabilities that will be of paramount importance in an NHS that is becoming increasingly digitised.
Our eco-system approach places knowledge and skills of people at the heart of digital transformation. The talk invites an opportunity to reflect and debate what is your piece in the jigsaw and how could/should you be involved.
Adrian is also a member of the University council https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/strategic-planning-and-governance/governance/council/members/
