Event Details

Chinese Studies at Lancaster University warmly invites you to join an exciting educational livestream event on Friday 15 May, 11:00-12:00 UK time, live from China. Especially created to celebrate International Museum Day.

Following the success of our educational livestreams from the Terra-Cotta Army Museum in Xi’an, China, in 2024/25, we are pleased to announce a new educational livestream experience for 2026: Night at the Porcelain Museum, live from Jingdezhen, ‘the Porcelain Capital of the World’!

  • Over 750 years ago, Jingdezhen became the official centre of Chinese porcelain making, producing beautiful products exclusively for the Emperor and his family.
  • Join us as we walk through this active archaeological site, and meet ‘Ducktor Sui’, a beloved treasure pieced back together from broken shards!
  • Ask questions to museum experts live in Jingdezhen through our interactive question and answer period during the livestream.
  • The livestream is co-organised by Lancaster University, Beijing Normal University, and Jingdezhen Museum.

The livestream will take place via Microsoft Teams. Please register to receive the joining link.

Pre-event learning materials

To help you get the most out of the experience, a set of pre-event learning materials will be released in advance—including background of the museum, how porcelain is made, and key themes to look out for during the livestream. Learning materials will be provided to registrees before the event.

Pre- and post-event surveys

We respectfully request help to improve future livestreams by completing our completely anonymous pre- and post-livestream surveys. We estimate each survey will only take a few minutes to complete. Links to the surveys will be provided to registrees before the event.
