Join us for a panel discussion on Breast Cancer in our region, issues affecting us and what we can do to improve health outcomes across Lancashire.

Our panel consists of Dr Debbie Clift, Dr Marisa Wray and Sarah Drake, who will explore their own experiences of breast cancer and their current work across medical education, third sector organisations, publishing and business support.

The panel will be hosted by Alastair Richards, CEO of North West Cancer Research. NWCR are an independent charity dedicated to putting our region’s cancer needs first, funding pioneering research, education and information to tackle the cause, improve the care and find the cure for cancer.

Debbie is a Breast cancer survivor and Coppatrekker with charity Coppafeel, taking on challenging, extraordinary and life-changing treks, all in the name of checking chests. She leads on the Lancaster Medical School Patient Educator Group, which works to ensure patient narratives are embedded into undergraduate learning to raise awareness of the impact of medical conditions and create a more compassionate workforce. She uses her own experiences to create positivity and impact.

Following her diagnosis with breast cancer during the Covid 19 pandemic, Marisa wrote a book - Cancer, Covid and Me - detailing her journey from discovery to treatment. She is a senior clinical lecturer for Lancaster Medical School.

Sarah is the owner of Elephant in the Room Training. After surviving breast cancer herself, Sarah launched her business supporting organisations around processes and procedures when a colleague is affected by cancer.
