Kristen Davies from Lancaster Medical School has received a British Education Award at a ceremony in Manchester.

The British Education Awards recognise the outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements of students.

The red carpet gala occasion saw twenty winners in four categories presented with a trophy in front of a packed audience at Beetham Tower at Hilton Manchester Deansgate.

Kristen won an award in the Degree category after achieving an MBChB Medicine & Surgery degree at Lancaster Medical School.

“I’m delighted and humbled to receive the BEA award. I’d like to say a big thanks to everyone who supported me at Lancaster University with my curricular and extra-curricular activities which made winning this award possible.”

During his Medicine & Surgery degree course, Kristen founded the Lancaster University Peer-Assisted Learning Society in order to provide medical students with resources and teaching sessions.

He also created the student-led Lancaster Medical School Question Bank to support Year 1-4 medical students.

He writes volunteer content for a range of online medical encyclopaedias and both writes and reviews articles for a number of national medical journals.

He is also the Academic & Welfare Officer for Lancaster Medical Society.

The British Education Awards is now in its third year after a successful 2017 London launch.

Around 400 guests gathered for the celebration and enjoyed a three-course dinner and entertainment. The BEA Finalists, their families and teachers travelled from across the UK to attend the awards which were hosted by BBC Radio Manchester presenter Kevin Fitzpatrick and Chester University’s Professor Basma Ellahi.
