Field Trip to Conwy and Caernarfon

Students from the Department of History on the field trip to the castles of North Wales

Students from across the Department of History took part in a field trip to visit Conwy and Caernarfon castles in North Wales on 7 March 2020.

The castles were built by King Edward I of England to seal his conquest of Wales of 1282-3, and are some of the finest and best preserved castles in Europe.

The trip was open to all students based in the Department of History or studying modules in History, and included first, second and final year undergraduates as well as masters and doctoral students. It was led by Dr Sophie Ambler, Lecturer in Later Medieval History, and supported by the Department.
