Jean Monnet Lecture - His Excellency Mr Igor Pokaz
Date: Thursday 13th February 2020
Time: There will be a wine reception from 6.30 and the lecture itself will take place from 7.00 to 8.00, this will be followed by a hot buffet meal.
Speaker: His Excellency Igor Pokaz - Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the United Kingdom
Event: ‘The Croatian Presidency of the European Council 2020’
Ambassador Pokaz has been the Croatian Ambassador to Britain since 2017. Prior to this he served as both Ambassador to Russia, from 2012-2015 and Croatia’s Permanent Representative to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation), from 2008-2012.
Croatia, the EU’s newest member state, holds the rotating Presidency of the European Council - in this talk, the Croatian Ambassador to the United Kingdom will outline his government’s plans for 2020.
The lecture formally launches the ‘Jean Monnet at Lancaster’ activities, which aim to co-ordinate and promote research and teaching focusing on the European Union.
Professor Dame Sue Black, the University Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Engagement, will introduce the Ambassador and Dr Martin Steven, Lecturer in International Relations and Jean Monnet academic co-ordinator, will also say a few words about research and teaching EU Politics at Lancaster.
