Does someone you know deserve recognition for their work in the chemical sciences? RSC awards cover a diverse spread of topics, from specialist research to advances in industry and inspirational teaching.
Please visit the Royal Society of Chemistry awards, there are different categories to suit all levels.
Institute Of Physics Awards
Do you know someone whose contribution to physics should be recognised with an IOP award? In 2019 the IOP introduced a new Technician Award followed by two awards to recognise the contribution of apprentices and employers of apprentices, the Apprentice Award and Apprenticeship Employer Award. (see IOP website for further categories)
For the Apprentice and Technician Award, individuals must be nominated by another individual but for the Apprenticeship Employer Awards companies may nominate themselves. The IOP awards celebrate outstanding achievements in physics and by physicists across the UK and Ireland, including researchers, technicians, apprentices, business innovators and teachers.
More information about all their awards and how to submit a nomination can be found on the IOP website (requires an account).
Honorary Fellowships for Technicians
As part of their aim to raise the professional status of technicians, and to recognise and celebrate their contribution to physics, the IOP are encouraging nominations for Honorary Fellowship for outstanding technicians. An Honorary Fellowship is the highest accolade presented by the Institute of Physics to reflect an individual’s exceptional services to physics. I'm sure you'll agree that this is a fantastic development for our community.
The Royal Society of Chemistry 2020 award for Higher Education Technical Excellence went to Lancaster University's Chemistry Department, "For the team's pivotal role in operating the laboratory courses, supporting research and developing a highly successful and creative outreach programme in a new Department of Chemistry."
