Eden Bear recommends visiting Leighton Moss!

Leighton Moss & Morecambe Bay Nature Reserves - The RSPB

Leighton Moss boasts the largest reed bed in north-west England and is home to a wide range of spectacular wildlife including otters, bearded tits, marsh harriers, egrets and red deer. See for yourself!

Nature reserve: open daily, dawn-dusk.

Free entrance to RSPB members. Non members adults £9. Children (ages 5-17) £4.50. First child free. All under 5s free.

Facilities: Toilets, accessible toilets, baby changing, pushchair friendly, café (with scones and highchairs provided), picnic area, educational facilites. It is a 250m walk from Silverdale trainstation along a country road (note the country road has no pavement).

At Leighton Moss there is a wide range of unique opportunities where visitors learn more about the amazing nature that can be found on the reserve. There are lots of activities and events throughout the year to inspire nature loving families and those keen to take their experience and knowledge to the next level. Families can explore themed, seasonal Wild Challenge quiz trails to discover more about the wildlife of Leighton Moss.

What will you see in the autumn months:

Parties of bearded tits gather in family parties to gather grit from the trays along the causeway in the autumn months and huge flocks of starlings may be seen wheeling above the reedbed before going to roost.
