Students at Lancaster University are among the most satisfied in the UK according to the 2013 National Student Survey.
Nine out of ten final year undergraduates said they are satisfied with their overall experience, placing Lancaster as the top university in the North West in the survey.
Overall, Lancaster is ranked 13th among UK universities alongside several others including Durham, Sheffield and Newcastle and ranked 6th amongst research intensive universities.
Professor Amanda Chetwynd, Lancaster’s Pro Vice-Chancellor for colleges and the student experience, said: “We listen very carefully to what our students need and we always work closely with them to ensure that their time here is the best it can possibly be. This result confirms Lancaster as one of the highest quality teaching institutions in the UK.”
Over 300,000 students responded to the survey which is carried out by Ipsos MORI. The eight categories covered ranged from course teaching to academic support, personal development and overall satisfaction.
The Universities Minister David Willetts said: “It is very encouraging to see student satisfaction is continuing to rise. University is a hugely enjoyable and life-enhancing experience for most students, as this survey shows.”
Lancaster’s score of 90 per cent student satisfaction is 5% higher than the sector average and is significantly above our HEFCE defined benchmark.
