Our state-of-the-art facilities are designed to ensure Lancaster maintains its position at the forefront of cyber security and responsible defence. The Data Cyber Quarter combines advanced labs, the immersive Data Immersion Suite, and the LENS collaborative hub to connect industry with research and drive innovation.

Data Cyber Quarter

Lancaster University's Data Cyber Quarter is a state-of-the-art hub for innovation in cyber security and data science, situated at the southern end of the Bailrigg campus. The quarter features a range of facilities highlighting the university's commitment to addressing the UK's growing demand for skilled professionals in these fields. The advanced facilities include the Data Immersion Suite - a high-tech audiovisual space with a 22-metre wrap-around video wall enabling immersive, scenario-based exploration of complex data challenges and the LENS - a co-working environment to connect cyber-related businesses with university researchers - fostering collaboration and innovation, and encouraging trailblazing initiatives around Security and Protection Science.

The LENS

The LENS at Lancaster University is a dynamic hub driving innovation and growth in digital and cyber-focused businesses. Offering flexible workspace, tailored support, and access to cutting-edge resources, it helps companies develop new technologies and tackle cybersecurity challenges. Connecting industry with Lancaster’s research community, the LENS fosters knowledge exchange, collaboration, and real-world impact.

Data Immersion Suite

The Data Immersion Suite is a state-of-the-art teaching and research facility designed to transform how complex data is explored and understood. Featuring a 22-metre wrap-around video wall of 48 high-resolution screens, it enables immersive, real-time data visualisation and scenario simulation. The suite also supports collaboration between researchers and industry to develop data-driven solutions, deliver training, and drive innovation across the digital and cyber sectors.

Digital Security Hub (DiSH)

The Digital Security Hub (DiSH), located in the heart of Manchester is a collaboration between Barclays Eagle Labs, Plexal, Lancaster University, and Manchester University. It brings together public, private, and academic expertise to support digital security startups with resources, mentorship, and collaboration - strengthening the region’s cyber ecosystem and driving the next generation of digital security innovation.
