Three reasons to join us at Lancaster University
Fantastic facilities and a commitment to investment
Lancaster University is proud to be one of only a handful of universities in the UK to be identified by the National Cyber Security Centre, part of GCHQ, as an Academic Centre of Excellence in both Cyber Security Research and Cyber Security Education. Lancaster’s latest multi-million pound investment in Security and Protection Science and the Data Cyber Quarter recognises the strength and uniqueness of Lancaster’s interdisciplinary socio-technical approach to security, and aims to increase our capabilities and opportunities in this rapidly evolving landscape. The £19m investment will fund 33 academic posts in the field together with appropriate professional services and technical support. Our recently completed laboratories, funded by a further £3.8m investment from the Office for Students provides the ideal environment for educating the next generation of security specialists.
Top quality impactful research
The success of the Security and Protection flagship initiative is underpinned by our cross-faculty Security Lancaster and Data Science research institutes, research centres including the Cyber Security Research Centre and the Centre for Research and Evidence on Security Threats (CREST) and our globally recognised departments including Mathematics and Statistics, Linguistics, Psychology, Computing, Law, Politics and Management.
The University offers a world-class research environment, as recognised by the UK Government’s most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) which valued the high-quality of our support and training for research students, integrity of our work, facilities available and equality and diversity ensuring the best mix of creative and innovative thoughts and processes.
Our commitment to commercialising research, working with businesses to enable local growth and regeneration and working with the public and third sector ranks Lancaster highly in Research England’s 2023 Knowledge Exchange Framework. We lead one of the first Research England Connecting Capabilities Fund projects, CyberCom, supporting the North West Cyber Corridor ecosystem through the exchange of best practice in research commercialisation.
