Prescriptive Analytics for Healthcare Improvement: It Takes Two to Tango
Recent research has highlighted the need to invest in the development of healthcare analytics capability. In this talk, we reflect on increasing capability and delivery through mathematical modelling embedded in UK´s National Health Service (NHS). So far, the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is the only Health Board / NHS Trust that hosted multiple PhD-level mathematicians and lecturers since its inception in 2013. Also, dozens of MSc and final year undergraduate students engaged in a variety of impactful projects. We provide an overview of a project how prescriptive healthcare analytics made an impact improving on process measures such as waiting time reduction.
