STOR-i welcomes new MRes cohort

STOR-i students and staff enjoy a team building exercise in the Lake District.
STOR-i Away Day 2019, Waterhead, Lake Windermere

Last week we welcomed our new cohort of MRes students to STOR-i. This year twelve students, from across the UK, Europe, India and Australia, arrived at Lancaster to start the STOR-i programme.

After a welcome day introduction on Wednesday 2nd October, the MRes cohort, along with the 1st year PhD cohort and various staff members, spent two days in the Lake District enjoying a packed programme of team-building activities. The two-day programme saw teams of staff and students competing against each other in a series of different physical and mental challenges, whilst also allowing the new cohort time to get to know each other in a fun and relaxed setting.

Activities on the first day were based around the Langdale estate and included a team challenge to design and print a team logo onto a T-shirt. This was followed a junk modelling challenge to design, build and play a crazy golf course. The second day saw us move out onto the water of Lake Windermere for an acquateering activity and a crash course in yacht sailing!

The rain held off for the most part and we all had a great time getting to know each other whilst learning some interesting new skills!
