Conference Facilitator Opportunity

We need students from throughout the Lancaster Partnership to apply for the role of Conference Facilitator to support the 6th annual Undergraduate Research Conference. The UG Research Conference is a conference run for students, and by students. As a facilitator, you will host, support and facilitate the conference and help to ensure that it is engaging, exciting and runs smoothly. You will be fully supported in this role with training sessions leading up to the conference and on-the-day support from the conference organisation team. The deadline for applications is 16th December 2024.

What will be expected of you?

You will be asked to attend five online training sessions/meetings between January and March 2025 to prepare you for your role. You will then attend and support the conference, which will take place online on the mornings of the conference. During the conference, you will work as part of a team of students to facilitate each presenter session and enthuse participants to generate energy and engagement throughout the conference.

What will you get out of the role?

Although the role is voluntary you will gain a wide range of valuable skills and experience which will look great on your CV such as: team working, networking, presentation/hosting, planning and events organisation, as well as leadership skills. You will also get to meet and work with a diverse range of students from across the world. You can earn points towards your Lancaster Award, and you can ask for a reference for future work opportunities from one of the conference organisers.

New Conference Student Director Opportunity

This year we are introducing a new paid opportunity to those who are keen to lead a team of facilitators and coordinate smooth running of the conference. As well as hosting, supporting and facilitating the conference you will lead and support facilitators within training sessions leading up to the conference and on-the-day. You will have strong communication skills, ability to enthuse the audience as well as generate engagement throughout the conference. We are looking for confident speakers and presenters who will actively engage with the presenters online and encourage lively online conversations around presented research subjects.
