There are moments at university and in life, when everything feels possible, and also overwhelming. So many choices and paths. So much pressure to ‘get it right’. Getting clarity on who we are and what we stand for is a powerful lens for decision-making when we feel stuck about our next steps.

Your values can change over time and in different contexts. In this session, you might narrow your focus to what matters most while you’re at university. Or you might lift your eyes to the bigger picture of the life ahead. Either way, you’ll identify what you hold true in his moment, and learn how to use that clarity.

This session will be facilitated for Work in Progress by Elvira Cámara from the University of Granada, who brings a deep interest in how values shape our future. Elvira will guide you through tried-and-tested approaches she has used with her own students, creating space for thoughtful exploration and practical insight. She says:

‘My students aren’t asking for inspiration- they’re asking for tools. When university life feels overwhelming, clarity about their values gives them a steady compass. The Values Lab turns reflection into confident, real-world action.’

Why Join?

‘What speaks for me about the potential of this session is the recognition of being overwhelmed at times. The possibility of determining my values feels a suitable step in overcoming those feelings.’ Josh, Department of Physics.

After lectures, deadlines, and study sessions, this is space to focus on you. Join if you want to:

  • Understand what really matters to you
  • Feel more confident in the choices you make
  • Build clarity about how you want to act and grow

Your values shape how you decide, respond, and move forward. This workshop helps you identify them, and use them with confidence.

What You’ll Experience

  • Hands-on activities to explore what values are and why they matter
  • Guided discovery to compare, question, and prioritise different values
  • Individual reflection to identify your top personal values
  • A creative activity to turn insight into a practical reminder
  • Sharing in a supportive, respectful space

Your Takeaways

By the end of the session, you’ll walk away with:
