At Work in Progress we work with many inspiring entrepreneurs and young people who want to make a difference in the world. Through our work we have seen the transformational impact that support of any kind can make in the challenging start-up phase. That's why we’re delighted to announce this year’s Work in Progress Enterprise Awards 2026!

LU student and graduate business owners have the opportunity to pitch for one of three £5,000 awards made possible through our partnership with Santander Universities UK, as well as receive 6 months mentorship with entrepreneurs from the Work in Progress community.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • You are a current student or graduate of Lancaster University
  • You are the owner/founder of a Limited Company, a Social Enterprise or a registered Sole Trader.

Application process

  • Applications officially open on Monday 11th May 2026.
  • You have four weeks to complete your application, including completing an online form and providing us with: a pitch deck, business model canvas, CVs for your team, a two-year financial plan and a company logo.
  • Applications close on midday on Monday 8th June 2026.
  • The team will review all applications from Monday 8th June 2026 - Friday 12th June 2026, after which point six finalists will be chosen to move on to the next round.
  • If selected as a finalist, your place in the final will be confirmed on Monday 15th June 2026.
  • You will then have three weeks to put together a video pitch.
  • Video pitches should be submitted by midday on Monday 6th July.
  • Our judging panel will meet week commencing 6th July to review final pitches, before the three winning businesses are announced on Monday 13th July.
