Tony Worth - Olympic Torchbearer

Tony studied Economics and graduated in 1993. He was a member of Pendle College.

I was chosen to be a Torchbearer due to my enthusiasm and passion for sport, along with my commitment to take up jogging again in order to get fit so I can play properly with my three children.

It was an honour and a privilege to carry the Olympic Torch on 1 July though Solihull.  However, it was just as special to be able share the Torch with the community and I was invited to take it around local schools, pre-schools, fetes, Brownie groups, a hospital, a care home and a church as well as opening events with the Lord Mayor, being guest of honour at the Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey and attending a variety of Civic Receptions! I estimate that my Olympic Torch  passed through around 6,000 hands to date and it is always greeted with huge smiles!
