Creating Your Tender Team

Creating Your Tender Team -
James Kent (Marketing, 2007, Cartmel) used his interest in Entrepreneurship to forge a career in tendering.

"One of my main drivers to choose Lancaster was the ability to pick some of the Entrepreneurship modules that the Management School offered alongside my Marketing degree. I always knew I wanted to own my own business and the chance to have an insight into start ups, academic theory and the ability to meet entrepreneurs face to face inspired me to eventually start my own business.

Whilst at Lancaster I set up a student website called Mellow Munkee which involved chasing companies for advertising space. I learnt a lot in a cut throat sales industry which put the theory of the lecture theatre into practice!

Through various sales roles, from Sales Management to Sales Director, I built a wide range of skills, one of which involved tendering. Seeing a gap in the market, together with my business partner, I started Your Tender Team (www.yourtenderteam.co.uk) a professional tender writing company. Last year there were £301bn worth of tenders released in the UK leading to enormous for potential for companies to bid for these contracts. We offer a service that we will work with companies wanting to bid for the contract by writing their tender response from scratch.

We have a number of teams focusing on different industry sectors including Health & Social Care, Construction, Facilities Management & The Ministry Of Defence which allows us to have specialisms giving our clients the best possible chance of having a successful outcome to their tender.

Next year we are launching our Graduate Scheme with Lancaster University to find the next generation of professional writers. I owe a lot to the Management School and their approach in developing talent along with offering an inspiring learning environment to students."
